Facebook Canvas

An overview of my design work for Facebook Canvas—making thoughtful decisions based off prototyping, critique, and iteration.

Facebook Canvas helps business create beautiful, immersive experiences to tell their stories.

Type: Product design internship
Role: Interaction design, visual design, product strategy, prototyping. I helped design complex workflows with different entry points, explored detailed interactions, and talked with advertisers to learn about how they wanted to use Canvas.

Timeline: June — September 2016
Last summer, I worked on the Canvas team at Facebook—Canvas is a mobile platform for businesses, large and small, to bring their stories and products to life. Through panoramic images, videos, and call-to-action interactions, Canvas provides a space for businesses to exercise full creative control and create beautiful experiences. Over the summer, I worked on two main projects, touching both the business-facing and consumer-facing aspects of Canvas, as well as a few visual and educational projects on the side.

My first project on the team was to design a lightweight asset editor within Canvas for actions like text overlays, cropping, and filtering. After working on a great deal of detailed interaction explorations while designing the editing tools, my main project over the summer—linked Canvases—encompassed much more of a strategy and workflow design perspective.
