Wedding Invite Game

A small mini-game created for my own wedding as an alternative to paper invitations.

My partner Matt and I are getting married this summer, and we wanted to send our invitations digitally. However, we didn't want them to be sad versions of paper invites—so we brainstormed on how we could make the invitations special because they were digital. What could we do for our invitation that would only be possible because of the digital format? Ultimately, we decided to build a short game that would serve as the intro to our wedding site.

We built the game in just a few days since we realized we needed to send out the invites ASAP (according to the traditional advice that invites should be sent at least two months before the event), so there are lots of things we'd like to add/make better if we had time. But overall, we had a ton of fun designing and making the game together!

The game is a simple side scroller. After guests chose their player (either me or my partner), they had to jump over angry rocks and collect a set of strawberries to unlock the wedding ring. Once they collected the ring, the two characters are reunited, and they were directed to the actual wedding site.

I designed, illustrated, and animated the game components, and my partner coded the game. We also used some amazing sound effects from Kenney Vleugels and music from Eric Matyas.

You can play it anytime here: katmattwedding.com ❤️

After the intro screen, guests were able to choose their player—either me or my partner!

After choosing their character, guests had to collect a set of strawberries (progress was shown in the top bar). If they hit a rock, the character flashed red and they lost a strawberry.

Once all the strawberries are collected, a ring appeared. If the ring was collected, the two characters would be reunited, and the guest was then directed to the wedding site.
